Panfilo "Ping" Lacson said he "saved" about P300 billion in public funds from possible graft and corruption because of his keen scrutiny of the national budget. In his dialog with members and officials of the transport sector in  Quezon City  on Saturday, Lacson said it is his duty as a senator to scrutinize the  General Appropriations Act . "Umaabot na pala ng P300 billion  ang  nailigtas sa kaban ng bayan doon sa 18 taon ng kabubusisi ko (It appeared that P300 billion have been saved from national coffers in my 18 years of scrutinizing [the budget])," he said. Lacson said that he slashed the budget for some projects, which he knew will not be put in good use and realigned these funds to hospitals. Sotto: Lacson’s 18 years of budget scrutiny helps PH to refocus 2022 spending

Image
Sotto: Lacson’s 18 years of budget scrutiny helps PH to refocus 2022 spending Nearly 18 years of scrutinizing the national budget in the Senate has helped Partido Reporma chairman and standard-bearer Panfilo “Ping” Lacson refocus the government’s expenditure program for 2022 on the country’s most pressing needs amid the coronavirus pandemic, his running mate and Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III said. Pero ‘yung 18 years na ‘yon, 18 times niyang binalasa ‘yung budget,” Sotto said in a press conference over the weekend in Quezon City. [Let me just add about the budget. Let’s remember, Senator Lacson has already spent 18 years in the Senate, he caught up with me there. But in the 18 years he spent there, he has shuffled the budget 18 times, too.] “So, itong budget ngayon, itong 2022 na budget na-scrutinize din niyang mabuti ‘yan. At kami naman, sinusuportahan n...

Lacson: ‘Always believe there is a God’

Image
Lacson: ‘Always believe there is a God’ Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson on Sunday reminded his fellow Caviteños that “there is a God, always believe there is a God,”  when he visited his home province along with running mate Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III.  Lacson, who is running for president under Partido Reporma, recalled before Cavite local officials, as well as members and officers of local Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations (TODAs) in General Trias City, a childhood experience that reminded him of God. He said that when he was five or six years old while visiting his maternal grandparents in General Trias, he was swimming in a local river when he felt he was drowning, as he did not know how to swim then. As he hovered between life and death, Lacson said, he vividly saw and heard the angels singing in the blue sky - before his cousin saved his life by getting a tree branch for him to hang on to. “When I looked up to the sky while I was bobbin...

Ping: Transport sector ibangon na sa pandemya

Image
“Very important kasi sila ‘yung hard-hit… In fact, the hardest hit sector, ‘yung transport sector ng pandemya dahil ‘nung nag-lockdown talagang tigil lahat sila.

“Well, we know that during the time of General Ping Lacson ay nakita natin talaga noon `yong napakalaking pagbabago, not only on kotong cops pati na rin ‘yong mga financial reform,” sabi ni Eleazar.

Lacson: PH faces triple whammy from China

Image
Lacson: PH faces triple whammy from China The Philippine faces threats on three fronts—national security, food security and economic security—with China’s continued encroachment into the country’s territorial waters in the West Philippine Sea (WPS), Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson said on Monday. Lacson, chair of the Senate committee on national defense and security, also called on the government to take “more proactive efforts” to urge the international community to exert pressure on China to comply with the arbitral ruling favoring the Philippines. “More often than not, we only think of national security when we hear of China’s encroachment into our territorial waters. It’s actually much more than that … It has a great effect not only on our national security because that much is obvious—but our food security and our economic security are greatly affected,” Lacson said. Lacson raised the issue during Monday’s hearing of the Senate committee on foreign relations, which tackled ...
