"EJ Obiena: a case of missed opportunity because of sports politics. Sayang," ani Lacson  sa kanyang Twitter post nitong Linggo . Nagmula ang insidente na ito sa hindi pag endorso sa kanya ng Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (PATAFA), na kanyang nakaalitan kamakailan. "Unacceptable! We just threw away a golden opportunity to showcase our world-class talent - all because we cannot get our acts together," giit ni Lacson. "I am sure we Filipinos can accept losing in a fair competition. What we cannot accept is being denied the opportunity to compete in the first place," dagdag ng senador. Inih...

Lacson: Suspend Fuel Excise Tax Now March 13, 2022 -   With fuel prices expected to shoot up yet again, threatening to further raise the cost of living, Sen. Panfilo "Ping" M. Lacson called for the immediate suspension of excise taxes on fuel products even on a temporary basis until such time that the international price of oil stabilizes to a manageable level. Lacson, who chairs the Senate Committee on National Defense and Security, said this will provide the much-needed breathing space not just to motorists but also to virtually all sectors affected by the upward trend in fuel prices. But he also stressed that in the meantime, the government must draw up long-term solutions to the crisis, including the use of renewable energy. "Another round of price hikes in fuel is expected this week and this time, the increases are unprecedented. The Mean of Platts Singapore (MOPS) reference price for refined petroleum products and other oil price indices have already reached leve...

Lacson: Vigilance, Preparedness Needed in North Korea Situation March 13, 2022 -  Aside from the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the Philippine government will have to be "vigilant and prepared" over the situation in North Korea, Sen. Panfilo "Ping" M. Lacson said over the weekend. Lacson cited continued reports of recent aggressive behavior from North Korea, including the firing of a suspected ballistic missile days before presidential elections in South Korea. "We need to watch this carefully, this is very close to us and quite unpredictable," said Lacson, who chairs the Senate Committee on National Defense and Security. He cited reports over the past weeks where North Korea has tested missiles twice. While North Korea claimed its tests last Feb. 26 and March 4 were connected to a new reconnaissance satellite program, the United States said analysis indicates it may be testing an ICBM. A statement from the  US Indo-Pacific Command  said the "...

Lacson: PH Must be Ready for Possible Spillover of Russia-Ukraine Crisis March 12, 2022 -  The Philippines must be fully prepared for a possible spillover to Asia of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Sen. Panfilo "Ping" M. Lacson said Saturday. Lacson said the Philippines has to walk the talk since it has supported the United Nations General Assembly resolution condemning Russia's invasion of Ukraine. He said this includes allowing the use of our facilities by allies such as the United States. "Nagpirma na tayo sa UNGA resolution na nakikiisa tayo sa ibang bansa sa pagkondena sa invasion ng Russia sa Ukraine. So dapat lamang na sundan natin sa gawa ang ating salita. Kung sakaling kailangan ang facilities ng Pilipinas, mapa-dagat lupa o ere, tama lang yan (We signed the UN General Assembly resolution condemning the invasion of Ukraine by Russia. So we should walk the talk. If our facilities are needed whether it be on land, sea or air, that is but proper),...

Lacson Admin to Adopt Undercover Agents, Other Drastic Measures vs Corruption March 12, 2022 -  Undercover operatives posing as applicants to catch extorting government employees will be among the drastic measures against corruption to be adopted by the administration of Sen. Panfilo "Ping" M. Lacson should he be elected as President. Lacson said that such drastic measures will keep even hardheaded members of the bureaucracy on their toes, for fear they would be caught and punished. "Sa government bureaucracy, pwede tayong mag-field ng operatives na kunwari nag-a-apply... hanggang matanim sa isipan ng government employees and officials na delikado tayo, baka ang kinikikilan natin ay operative (In the bureaucracy, we can field operatives who pretend to be applicants, to catch mulcting employees. The corrupt employees will soon be on their toes because they don't know if the applicant they are extorting from is a secret operative)," Lacson said in an interview o...

Lacson Scores Propaganda on Arrests of 'Activists' in Cavite March 11, 2022 -  Sen. Panfilo "Ping" M. Lacson on Friday scored the propaganda by some groups that claimed activists were arrested in Cavite after he warned of the possible infiltration by the Communist Party of the Philippines and its legal fronts in the campaign of Vice President Ma. Leonor "Leni" Robredo. Lacson said a fact-check showed the arrests were related to an operation of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency against illegal drugs in the province. "May naaresto pero drug operation ito sa Bacoor. Ang nag-operate, PDEA, anti-illegal drugs operation (The arrests in Bacoor stemmed from an anti-illegal drug operation)," he said in an interview on Radyo 5. He noted the groups that issued "alerts" tried to make it appear that they were arrested because he had "red-tagged" them for attending Robredo's campaign rally in Cavite earlier this month. "Ganyan...
