Lacson Camp Scores Fake News that Bicol Sorties 'Canceled' April 29, 2022 -  Independent presidential bet Sen. Panfilo "Ping" M. Lacson was the target of fake news spreading Friday that he had canceled his campaign events in Bicol, particularly in Naga, Camarines Sur. Local organizers cited information reaching them that local media who were to attend Lacson's campaign in Naga were advised that the events were canceled. Ashley Acedillo, Lacson's spokesman, belied such reports even as he decried the dirty trick. "We are no longer surprised by such tactics as Election Day draws closer. That said, it does not take away the disgust over the acts of whoever is/are behind this fake news," Acedillo said. "It is worth repeating that votes for Ping Lacson and his running mate Tito Sotto are votes for much-needed leadership to fix our country's ills.," he added. For now, he said they are gathering additional information on Friday morning's

Seeing 'Yolanda Graduates' Making a Difference vs Calamities in Ormoc Makes Lacson Feel Fulfilled April 28, 2022 -  Many of the development and community planning officers in the Visayas who received scholarship grants from the Office of the Presidential Assistant for Rehabilitation and Recovery (OPARR) through the US$10-million technical support and assistance extended by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) after their areas were devastated by Super Typhoon Yolanda are now helping their communities deal with similar disasters like Odette and Agaton - and independent presidential candidate Sen. Panfilo "Ping" M. Lacson is very proud of them. Lacson, who as Presidential Assistant on Rehabilitation and Recovery facilitated their schooling eight years ago, met with some of the planning officers during his and vice presidential bet Senate President Vicente "Tito" Sotto III's visit to Ormoc, Leyte on Wednesday. "Parang fulfil

Lacson Bares Plan to End Bloodshed in Abra, Other Violence-Prone Provinces

Image
Lacson Bares Plan to End Bloodshed in Abra, Other Violence-Prone Provinces April 27, 2022 -  Even as he prayed for peaceful elections in Abra and other hotspots on May 9, independent presidential aspirant Sen. Panfilo "Ping" M. Lacson has mapped out a plan to put an end to the culture of violence in such areas. Lacson, who was in Abra on Tuesday, also stressed it is time to end the culture where "warlords" keep residents poor and ignorant, and always dependent on them. "Of course ginawa ko noong Chief PNP ako - pay special attention not only to Abra but in areas na traditionally historically magulo, not only during election period (I have done this when I headed the Philippine National Police - pay special attention not only to Abra but to areas that have been traditionally and historically prone to violence not only during the election period)," he said in an interview with media. Should he and vice presidential bet Senate President Vicente "Tito&q

Lacson calls off North sorties in favor of Abra visit BANGUED, Abra — Presidential candidate Senator Panfilo Lacson has called off his campaign activities in Ilocos Sur and Norte to make time for his visit in this province. Lacson’s initial schedule  showed that he was supposed to visit the two Ilocos Region provinces on Tuesday but his scheduled activities were cancelled. Ilocos Sur Gov. Ryan Singson was also supposed to host a lunch for Lacson at his family’s restaurant, which is located at the famed Calle Crisologo in Vigan, according to the senator. “I requested to call it off kasi gipit sa oras [because of the lack of time] considering that the Bersamins, the Reporma candidates in Abra who decided to stick with me are hosting an early lunch, followed by a courtesy call to the bishop to be capped by a town hall meeting in Bangued,” Lacson told reporters when asked regarding the cancellation of his activities in the said provinces. To recall, Lacson earlier  parted ways with the P

Lacson-Sotto tandem counting on thinking voters on May 9

Lacson-Sotto tandem counting on thinking voters on May 9 The tandem of independent presidential candidate Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and vice presidential bet Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III will be counting on thinking voters who may make a last-minute swing for them on May 9. Lacson and Sotto believe voters can still change their minds at the last second, even as they got encouraging numbers from a recent survey that was made public this week. “Our thinking is that people can change their minds even in a split second. Even when voters enter the polling booth, they can change their minds before actually shading the ballots, especially if they are discerning. That is what we have been telling voters – to be discerning, and look at who is the most qualified and experienced,” Lacson said in Tagalog at a press conference in Rizal Friday. Sotto added that “anything can swing” in even three to four days because of technology and the 24/7 nature of news. “Our people can make last

Lacson, Sotto flag change in transmitting election data to 4G

Lacson, Sotto flag change in transmitting election data to 4G MANILA, Philippines — Presidential candidate Sen. Panfilo Lacson and his running mate Senate President Vicente Sotto III complained on Friday about the sudden change in the manner of transmitting election data and suggested it could be used for election fraud. “It’s too early or premature to question if there is a motive behind this. But, just the same, we need to determine why there is a sudden change of protocol … especially if the integrity of our electoral process is affected,” Lacson said. According to Sotto, the decision to change the protocol on how Smartmatic transmits the data—from 3G to 4G—could prevent auditors from tracing from which vote counting machine (VCM) it was transmitted. Aside from the VCMs from the different voting precincts, there could be other VCMs from anywhere that could transmit data to the national level. These can be from another country, or in a hotel in Metro Manila,” he said in a presser o

Lacson, Sotto See Last-Minute Vote Swing from Discerning Voters April 23, 2022 -  More than a better showing in a recent survey, independent presidential aspirant Sen. Panfilo "Ping" M. Lacson and his vice presidential bet Senate President Vicente "Tito" Sotto III are counting on a last-minute vote swing from discerning voters in their favor on Election Day. While Lacson and Sotto maintained that surveys are a snapshot of people's sentiments on a particular day, they believe voters can still change their minds at the last second. "Ang isip pwedeng magpalit even in a split second. Pagpasok mo sa polling booth, pwedeng magbago ang shi-shade-an mo because nakapag-discern ka. That's the reason why yun ang panawagan naming lahat sa voters, maging discerning. Tignan kung sino ang pinaka-qualified, pinaka-competent, pinaka-experienced (People can change their minds in a split second. I will support the suggestion pero it's very unlikely to happen. Wala pa akong natatandaan na na-override na veto ng presidente," Lacson said in a press conference here. (Yes. I will support the suggestion but it's very unlikely to happen. I cannot recall a case where the president's veto was overridden.)
