Lacson Camp Scores Fake News that Bicol Sorties 'Canceled'

April 29, 2022 - Independent presidential bet Sen. Panfilo "Ping" M. Lacson was the target of fake news spreading Friday that he had canceled his campaign events in Bicol, particularly in Naga, Camarines Sur.

Local organizers cited information reaching them that local media who were to attend Lacson's campaign in Naga were advised that the events were canceled.

Ashley Acedillo, Lacson's spokesman, belied such reports even as he decried the dirty trick.

"We are no longer surprised by such tactics as Election Day draws closer. That said, it does not take away the disgust over the acts of whoever is/are behind this fake news," Acedillo said.

"It is worth repeating that votes for Ping Lacson and his running mate Tito Sotto are votes for much-needed leadership to fix our country's ills.," he added.

For now, he said they are gathering additional information on Friday morning's fake news.

Lacson's scheduled activities in Bicol include courtesy calls and town hall meetings in Catanduanes, Naga, and Albay.
