Posting this piece addressed to the Pinkies but in many ways, applicable to us

Make no mistake. 

Be mindful that the pink deluge on your feed is just a lot of noise inside a very tiny echo chamber.  Algorithms further divide us into insular tribes.  So, wag po sanang masyadong matuwa sa number of likes sa pink post mo. 

Truth? Tayu-tayo lang ang na e-excite.

While this pink euphoria is giving all of you a momentary kilig and a "her speech made me cry" IG story worthy moment ....  let me say : ladies and gents : Please wake up to the real world challenge.  What you are not seeing is a professionally orchestrated content development and distribution strategy of ruthless historical revisionism within social media cohorts you are not a part of.  And they have had a head start in years, not weeks. These aren’t trolls. There is a well oiled machine that has been running for a while. Lots of callous but well curated content precisely targeting new, young voters on Tiktok, with funding to achieve maximum reach and frequency. The nostalgic “martial law strongman during the golden years” narrative is romantic and convincing, for the young and uninformed. Sure, gaslighting at kapal-ng-mukha levels, but, dude, maayos ang digital comms strat nila, I must say. Kulang na lang mag mukbang challenge si BBM. 

To win, not only does there need to be further consolidation of opposition forces, the big task is to shift perception of those outside your circle, outside your demographic. No need to preach to the choir. There is a job to be done. And this needs to be executed with humility and compassion, rid of the intellectual arrogance and patronizing moral ascendancy of the elitista.  (Why block and unfriend? Dialogue!) That kind of naïveté resulted in the rise of this current administration. The term “dilawan” came about because those who pinned their hope on EDSA were truly let down.  The brutal fact of the matter was that there were crooks amongst those who manipulated us emotionally while singing "handog ng Pilipino sa mundo". (*Sidebar reflection : I literally naively shed a nostalgic tear when my 2010 vote was driven by that song and the emotion of the moment, devoid of critical thinking.)

To borrow some terms from my profession, this is less about loyalty and purchase frequency amongst current users. The source of growth is to convert non users, or truly understand why the lapsers left the franchise....and then reach out to them in a way that they understand (remember pumatok ang budots!) and will truly fill their empty stomachs. 

You know very well that the demographic you associate with is only 1% of the population. The Philippines is not Ayala Alabaaang-aah.

It’s like being quarantined- we are in a bubble, we don’t get infected but we also can not infect others. 

We should act like the virus and infect the unvaccinated and those immuno-compromised. YKR?
